OOC Information
NAME; Olivia
AGE; 22
OTHER CHARACTERS PLAYED; n/a

IC Information
CHARACTER NAME; Sakura Oogami
AGE; Believes herself to be 15-16, but due to the events of the game she’s actually around 18.
CANON; Dangan Ronpa
CANON POINT; Chapter 4
FAMILY TYPES; Nature Spirits, Virus Busters, Deep Savers
APPEARANCE; Sakura is quite tall for a girl, standing at about 6’3’’, with a tanned, very muscular build and scars across her face and on her right shoulder. She wears a sailor uniform, which is presumably the uniform from her previous school before arriving at Hope’s Peak, though its sleeves are ripped to make room for her arms and she has bandages wrapped around her arms and legs. She has long, stringy white hair and blue eyes. In general she’s very masculine in appearance, aside from her clothes and her large bust.

PERSONALITY;
At first glance, one would feel rather intimidated by Sakura, what with her tall, muscular build and fierce expression; not to mention that at her age she has already earned the title of strongest person in the world and is a champion in mixed martial arts, having never lost an official match. However, while she is a serious person by nature, she is for the most part very calm and composed, always speaking very formally to others. She's a quiet person compared to most other characters in the series, but whenever she does speak she’s polite and to the point, never saying more than she feels is necessary. As one can imagine, she is very reserved and independent, and at first the only other character she shows any real attachment to is fellow sports enthusiast Aoi Asahina, with whom she develops a very close friendship.

It’s telling that Sakura bonds quickly with Asahina over their mutual love for physical activity, since to Sakura, fighting is very much a part of who she is. Raised as the heir to a 300-year-old dojo and already having defeated her father, the current head, at a young age, she has already mastered several martial arts and even after being declared the strongest person in the world, she is still committed to training and strengthening her body every day. She’s shown to become agitated due to the lack of proper training equipment in the school when the students are locked in, and she’s very fond of anything containing protein, all the better to become stronger. Her focus on becoming stronger is not only as a martial artist, but also as a woman; she feels that since she is a woman, she needs to prove herself even more than a man would in order to keep her title. She’ll never actually challenge anyone who isn’t physically strong enough to take her on, but she is willing to train anyone who might be interested, such as when Chihiro shows interest in becoming stronger in order to overcome his own issues, even though he refuses her.

As strong and stoic as Sakura is, though, she does have her own shortcomings. During her Free Time events with Naegi, her training regimen and dedication to fighting is pretty much all she’ll talk about with him. It’s because of this that she comes across as somewhat socially awkward despite her cool and composed demeanor, since her dedication to martial arts to the exclusion of much else in her life resulted in her having no friends before meeting the other students. It is also possible for her to lose her composure, and a guaranteed way to do that is to threaten her friends, particularly Asahina; this is the only time she’ll use her strength and scary appearance to intimidate someone, though she’d never actually hurt them (Touko Fukawa as well as her violent split personality, Genocider Syo, is the one who’s usually on the receiving end of Sakura’s wrath). Her love for her family and the few friends she has is also used against her, since Monobear, the antagonist of the series, blackmails her into becoming his mole by threatening her family and her dojo.

For all her aloofness and difficulties with connecting with people, Sakura ultimately shows that she is fiercely loyal to Asahina and the other students. Though Monobear orders her to kill another student while holding her family’s safety over her head, she defies him by committing suicide, fulfilling his requisite of killing someone while ensuring that her family and the other students will be safe. Before that she is able to break open the headmaster’s office so the others can find more vital clues to the mystery that surrounds their situation, and in her suicide note she expresses the genuine desire for them to stop fighting and trying to kill one another, as well as revealing that they were all her first true friends. Throughout the series the other students come to rely on her as a symbol of both physical and emotional strength; she’s always appointed to guard crime scenes, not only because of her strength but also because of her level-headed demeanour, and the final words in her suicide note inspire all the remaining students, even the arrogant Togami, to rally against Monobear and end his game once and for all. Deep down, she herself admits that she has “a maiden’s heart”; though she is intimidating in appearance and standoffish to a degree, she is still a girl who greatly cares about her friends and will go to great lengths to protect them.

HISTORY;
Sakura was born into an old family of martial artists, and it was said that she had been fighting the moment she emerged from the womb. As she grew up, she was taught several styles of martial arts, and the more skilled she became the more people she was able to defeat, even her own father, the current head of their dojo. However, there was one person who Sakura couldn’t beat: a boy named Kenichiro, who was from a clan of assassins. His relationship with Sakura strengthened despite this, even to the point where they became boyfriend and girlfriend, but eventually Kenichiro was announced to be terminally ill, only having six months to live. This prompted Sakura to become stronger for his sake, and she went on to become a world-renowned fighting champion, having a 400 win streak and officially becoming the strongest person in the world. Deep down, though, she knew that she wasn’t the strongest, since she could never beat Kenichiro, who still fought to live even after six months had passed.

Soon Sakura’s strength had earned her a place at Hope’s Peak Academy, a school that only took on the best of the best in all fields. However, after arriving, Sakura and a group of other students suddenly found themselves trapped in the school with no memories of how that happened. It turned out that they were part of a game hosted by Monobear, a sadistic robot bear, that involved the students killing one another and trying to figure out the culprits , who would then be executed. Sakura worked with the other students to survive Monobear’s game…except in her case, Monobear blackmailed her, threatening harm upon her family and her dojo unless she acted as his mole within the group.

While Sakura complied at first so she could keep her family safe, the killings and the discord sowed because of them made her realize she could no longer work with Monobear, and when he outed her as the mole in Chapter 4, she apologized to the other students for keeping quiet. Later in the chapter, however, she is found dead, and after a painful trial it is discovered that she committed suicide after ingesting poison. Not only that, but the suicide note she supposedly left was fake; Monobear had planted it so he could spread despair among the remaining students. Her real note contained her last words, telling them to unite against Monobear and no longer fight amongst each other, and that they were all the first friends she had ever had. Her involvement in the story doesn’t end there; near the end of the game, Naegi and Kirigiri discover that in a last attempt to defy Monobear, Sakura had broken the lock to the headmaster’s office, allowing them to find clues that would end Monobear’s sadistic game and allow the remaining students to escape.

SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON;
[What would you say is your greatest strength?]
My greatest strength...for a long time, I always thought my greatest strength was my own physical strength. But...since there is still one person I cannot defeat, I suppose that is not entirely true. I do not talk about such things often, but if I had to say it, it would most likely be my emotional strength. I have faced many opponents in my life, but none as frightening as the trials Monobear placed before us, and before me. However, when I realized we were much stronger against him together than we were in discord, I knew I had to defy him and his twisted rules. I suppose that is what drove me to do what I did, in the end.

[What ability would you most like to have?]
This may sound foolish...but I would like to become better at making friends, aside from Asahina. Perhaps you would expect me to say "super strength" or something like that, but I have no need of such a thing. I wish to become strong through my own efforts.

[Who would make your ideal friend?]
Someone who shares the same interests as myself when it comes to physical fitness would be ideal. It would be preferable if they had a strong body type as well, so we could be sparring partners. Afterwards, we could relax and unwind with some protein coffee or tea...yes, that would certainly be ideal for me.

THIRD PERSON;
Sakura had never given much thought to whether or not there was an afterlife, but she had never imagined it to be like this. One moment her vision had been darkening after ingesting that poison, and the next she had heard someone calling her name, but it hadn't sounded like anyone she recognized. And yet, somehow, she felt as though she'd heard it before.

Then after that whole business with the bright lights and being stuffed into that chute, there was that small creature...Culumon, was it? It was certainly friendlier than Monobear had been, though the way it kept wanting to play with her started to grate on her nerves a little. After all, even she had her limits, even with small and cute things like that strange creature.

However, what it had said about a Digital World...that was intriguing, and also a little confusing. She had never been very good with computers or whatever else was considered "digital"; that was more Fujisaki's area. And these Digimon...Culumon had said they needed her help. The other students had needed help too, back at Hope's Peak, and she had done her utmost to the point of giving her own life, but an entire world? Would they really need someone like her?

Looking down at the Digivice, Sakura slowly closed her hand around it, careful not to break it. Perhaps here, in this strange new world that may or may not be the afterlife, she could truly help others without succumbing to being someone's mole. Perhaps here, in this place...she could truly become strong.
